Alessandra Ammara piano

Recorded November 2012
at Sala da pranzo d'estate of Palazzo Chigi in Ariccia (Rome)

directed by Pietro Tagliaferri

In this recital filmed in the magnificent Summer dining room of Palazzo Chigi in Ariccia (Rome), Alessandra Ammara plays three works that are particularly suited to her style of playing, marked by a natural lyricism and strong sensibility towards colour. Characteristics that are indispensable for adequately tackling a masterpiece of extreme complexity and emotional intensity such as Chopin's Preludes Op. 28 or to master authoritatively what is unanimously considered one of the most difficult and complex works in the entire piano repertory, Gaspard de la nuit by Ravel, where the composer touches heights of tonal invention and variety of articulation that will remain a reference for all the composers who will write for piano after him.
